The Library of Congress is perhaps the most beautiful building in Washington. Opened in 1897, its Italian Renaissance design and Beaux Art decor impressed our own citizens and helped establish the United States as an increasingly influential world power. It is the largest library in the world with more than 38 million books and 168 million-plus items in its collections.

Join us for a docent-led tour of the magnificent Thomas Jefferson Building to learn about the Library’s history, architecture and collections. The second part of the tour will explore the current “Shall Not Be Denied” exhibit, chronicling the seven-decade campaign for women’s suffrage in America.

Location: Library of Congress, 10 First Street SE, Washington, DC
